About Us

Ybor City's diverse cultural beginnings are on display in the Tampa Baseball Museum, from the beginnings of baseball in Tampa, including the social clubs, through the Major Leagues. Learn how this beloved sport became the "universal language" of Tampa.

The museum is housed in the childhood home of Al Lopez, and is a passion project for the community. Originally located at 1210 E. 12th Avenue, the house was moved to its current location and with the generous support from FDOT, Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, and private donors, renovated to be a museum.

Owned and operated by the Ybor City Museum Society, the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House, is part of the Society’s mission to preserve, promote and celebrate the unique cultural heritage of Ybor City, one of only two National Historic Landmark Districts in Florida.
